Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment Willie Aucamp has pledged his support in the fight against the scourge of rhino poaching in Mpumalanga. This follows an increase in rhino poaching cases in the province during 2025 compared to 2024. The province lost 178 rhinos last year, up from 92 in 2024. The Kruger National Park was the most severely impacted, recording nearly a 100% increase in rhinos poached. Minister Aucamp briefed the media on his first hundred days in office as well as the recovery progress of the Kruger National Park after the floods.
