TOP 10th NC Contingency plan

Описание: It was really expected by me to have clause 6.1.2.3 among top 10 Major NC during IATF 16949 audits in 2021. Being honest this is not a surprise that contingency plan is among top 10 major nonconformity.
Actually I am surprised it is the 10th major NC and not within top 3 with so many considerable number of changes issued by sanctioned interpretations. With this requirement when we are not familiar with sanctioned interpretations there is a significant risk of obtaining nonconformity.

One of the latest disruptions which shall be included in contingency plan is COVID-19 and if the organisations have the business continuity assured due to pandemic situation. Another change incorporated into the requirements through sanctions interpretation is cyber-attacks on information technology systems.

What is new is to do simulations and testing of the contingency plan. And also, last thing incorporated in the sanction interpretation is making sure that all the relevant people are trained in the contingency plan.

The organization should challenge the effectiveness of the contingency and a way of doing that is looking at delivery performance. Have we any interrupted deliveries to the customer? If we had an interruption why it occurs? Why does our contingency plan not work? What do we need to do to make our contingency plan more robust?

At the end let us not forget there is a requirement to review contingency plan also involving top management periodically at least annually in this activity.
