On Christmas Eve in 1989, the Baton Rouge Exxon Refinery endured an explosion as abnormally cold weather caused several heating tanks to explosion, causing effects to be felt 15 miles away and clouds to be seen well past New Orleans. The blast killed one worker and injured several others. Here is some news footage from WBRZ, the ABC affiliate in Baton Rouge, from the 10 PM Christmas Eve nightcast. All copyrights acknowledged.
