January 4, 2014, Maurice told Cherisse that his sister was planning a going away dinner for their mom and auntie. He asked if she could pick up his mother and aunt because he had to run an errand with his nephew, so he would meet her at the restuarant. Once Cherisse arrived at Brio's Tuscan Grille (her favorite spot) his brother Morris was standing in the isle with a video camera. Once she came around the corner, the couple's family and friends were sitting at a long table spread with beautiful flowers. A card rested at the front of the table with the words, "Today is the Day."
At that point Cherisse's Father, Mother and Uncle came from the back carrying two more vases of roses. Maurice's nephew, Demetris, serenaded Cherisse with a beautiful song which he wrote. Demetris ended the song with the words, " Will You Marry Me." That's when Maurice emerged from the back and got down on one knee. Finally, each family member stood up and read words of inspiration and encouragement to Cherisse.
The afternoon ended with the merging of two families and the beginning of a beautiful God written love story
