Grant breaks down every Commanders offensive lineman from the 2025 season - Laremy Tunsil's elite pass-blocking (2nd in NFL), Tyler Biadasz's down year getting overpowered by bull rushes, Josh Conerly Jr.'s massive improvement from 3.5 pressures per game to 1.7, the Chris Paul vs Brandon Coleman decision at guard, and why Nick Allegretti could be cut.
🏆 LAREMY TUNSIL - ELITE LT
The Grade: A - PFF ranked him 2nd in pass-blocking, 7th overall for tackles. Only 2 sacks allowed (tied 8th-fewest), 15 pressures (tied 2nd-fewest). The trade was absolutely worth it. Excited to see what he does in zone scheme blocking - if QB is most important position, LT is arguably second, and Commanders have certified stud.
🤔 CHRIS PAUL VS BRANDON COLEMAN
Chris Paul (B): Ranked 55th of 60 guards overall but 5th in pass-blocking grade - awful run-blocking but exceptional pass protection. Only 2 sacks and 17 pressures allowed. Whether he's retained depends on contract ask.
Brandon Coleman (C): Struggled early with injuries but better late - ZERO sacks allowed all year, only 2 pressures in 101 reps over final 4 games. Question: was he better because he improved or moved to tackle? More athleticism than Paul.
⚠️ TYLER BIADASZ - DOWN YEAR
The Concern: C- grade - 20th in pressures allowed among centers, PFF graded 11th overall. Good on the move but overpowered by bull rushes. Has 7th-largest AAV among centers. Should draft center like Pat Coogan or Logan Jones in later rounds to alleviate cap stress.
📈 SAM COSMI - CONSISTENCY
The Performance: B+ grade - Took time to warm up but only allowed 4 pressures in final 6 games. $20.5M cap hit next 3 years but no considerations to trade. Provides consistency team lacks, well-rounded player with best days potentially ahead.
🔧 JOSH CONERLY JR. - IMPROVEMENT
The Development: C grade - PFF graded 50th of 60 tackles with bad start, but improved dramatically. 3.5 pressures per game first 8 weeks down to 1.7 over final 9 weeks. ZERO pressures vs Broncos (league leaders in pressure rate at time). Needs to work on first step but showed upside and improvement.
❌ NICK ALLEGRETTI & ANDREW WYLIE
The Backups: Allegretti D- grade - pretty awful, got benched. Commanders save $3.7M by cutting him. Wylie D grade - better pass-blocking than Allegretti but problem against run. Free agent, might not be retained.
📊 BOTTOM LINE
Tunsil is elite (A). Biadasz struggling with bull rushes (C-). Conerly improved from 3.5 to 1.7 pressures per game. Paul vs Coleman decision at guard depends on contract/fit. Cosmi provides consistency (B+). Cut Allegretti to save $3.7M.
