He noted that investor sentiment has shifted from the optimism of September 2024 to a more cautious and questioning environment. Gupta observed that even major global developments—such as trade agreements between the EU and the US—have not triggered strong market reactions, indicating a more measured market mood. Such phases, he said, often create opportunities for selective stock picking, especially for patient investors.
Gupta emphasised that manufacturing is back in focus, supported by improving clarity on global trade arrangements. The narrative of India becoming a key part of global supply chains, which had earlier lost momentum due to tariff uncertainty, is now regaining traction. As companies reassess supply chain diversification, India could benefit from better visibility and alignment.
He also highlighted global investments in AI infrastructure, power infrastructure, and rising defence spending in Europe as structural tailwinds. Indian export-oriented companies integrated into global supply chains in these areas may be well positioned to benefit over the medium to long term.
Improving trade clarity and global capex trends are reviving the manufacturing theme, creating selective investment opportunities.
