Diwali is the most celebrated Hindu festival. But given the current climate change crisis, we must take it as a responsibility to celebrate Diwali without harming the environment. Ways to celebrate Eco-friendly Diwali:
1. Avoid Disposable Cutlery - We understand that during Diwali people visit each other and wish Diwali personally, and disposable cutlery here makes sense. But it is better to avoid single-use plastic as much as possible.
2. Light up Diyas - Instead of using those electric lights, why not go a little back in time and decorate our houses with earthern diyas. It is an evergreen way to make your house look all ready for Diwali.
3. Re-think Gift Wraps - Diwali is also the time where we exchange gifts, instead of using plastic wraps, use jute or cloth and tie is with a cloth ribbon. You can even re-use these gift wraps.
4. Gift a Plant - Think outside the box and give a plant this Diwali. Not only will it stay longer with the people you give it to, but it also remind them of you.
5. Use flowers for rangoli - Using flower for rangoli is a great idea. It will make your rangoli look more attractive. It is better to use flowers than those chemical colors.
