Hello Youtube Friends! Welcome to Root&Gaps. My name is Bee Vang and I am a Hmong American.

PURPOSE OF THIS CHANNEL:
The purpose of this channel is to discuss/talk about Hmong roots in China, the culture there, and the gaps between Hmong Americans, Hmong in Southeast Asia, and Hmong China.

I will be speaking in English for those who are Hmong but cannot speak the language anymore and wants to learn about this topic. This is also for those who aren't Hmong but are interested in this topic.

MY GOALS:
I want to visit China and visit the Hmong community still there. I want to be able to discuss with them our history and learn about our culture there. I want to understand what we possibly lost/forgotten and perhaps get a better understanding of what we (Hmong Americans) already know.

I know a little Mandarin as you can tell from this video, but I'm still not very good with the language. I want to be able to become fluent in it because I believe that there is more to learn and understand if I know the language.
