Michael Powell is one of the most influential directors to come out of England. He created some of the most stunning images put on film along with long running collaborators like Emeric Pressburger who was involved with most of the films in this video. Together they formed the Archer;s production company nurturing talent like cinematographer Jack Cardiff and actors Anton Walbrook, Roger Livesey, Deborah Kerr andKathleen Byron to name a few. His work greatly influenced many film director's like Martin Scorsese, George Romero and Francis Ford Coppola.
His career always fought both critical and financial battles, but in later years those directors who he inspired sought him out and his films were rediscovered.
In may 1984 he married Thelma Schoonmaker, Scorsese's long time film editor.
