Derail Valley Simulator - Standard Career Mode - Navigating Shunting Challenges @ Hilltop Industries

Welcome to the Fox Valley Short Line Railroad, a standard career play-through of Derail Valley Simulator. My name is Swift Fox and I’ll be your conductor, and engineer, for this evening’s two-hour journey on the rails.

Please have a seat, get comfortable and have your tickets ready. This train is now departing.

The stream started with a daylight tour of Forest South, the office, the yards, the locomotives, the turn-table and water tower, and where the Demonstrator locomotive would be if one was there. (05:28)

Then we took advantage of the good weather and embarked on the two available Shunting jobs here at Forest South.
Shunting Job 1, unload the train from Harbor and Town and store empty flat cars. (14:25)
Shunting Job 2, build train, load it with logs, and place it on an outbound track. (52:00)

While I moved the rolling stock around the yard tracks, I provide insight, tips and tricks on how to navigate the unique challenges these hilltop industries pose to new and veteran players of the game.

Our last shunting job provided a second freight haul to Sawmill that we could add to the lighter of the two existing freight haul jobs we found upon our arrival at Forest South. Both of these were going into the same yard track at Sawmill so it made it an easy choice to take them both. (1:14:00)

We pulled into Sawmill, parked our train, and turned in both orders. (1:54:00)

Next week we'll have a look at the jobs that are available at Sawmill and see where the work takes us in "the Valley."
