In this miniature painting tutorial I show how to paint a highly effective ginger hair, it's aimed at an intermediate skill level, but uses fairly simple techniques throughout. Including, basic layering, glazing and dot highlighting.

The miniature used in the tutorial is the Ringtail Vixen pinup from the Kingdom Death Monster (KDM) miniature line. But you can of course use any model you like, this painting guide will work equally well on miniatures from Warhammer, Warhammer 40k, Infinity, Warmachine, etc. Or even display models from the likes of Life Miniatures, Nocturna, Young Miniatures, Spira Mirabilis, Nekko Galaxy, etc.

Although this painting tutorial is aimed specifically at painters with an intermediate skill set, beginner painters will also benefit from it as it shows that simple techniques can be used to create quite a high level paint job, and just because a miniature painting technique is considered 'basic', the final result you get from using it, doesn't have to be.

I use Scale Color paints throughout the tutorial to paint the miniature, however you don't need to use this specific brand, all you really need is a dark reddish magenta, a bright saturated orange, a very light yellow, and a white or off white. Don't worry about finding an exact match to a paint you see on a painting tutorial, go for similar instead. I also use a red ink while painting the miniature, however, this stage is optional, and you can either skip over it entirely, or use one from whatever brand you prefer, be that Winsor & Newton, Daler Rowney, Games Workshop, etc.
