Fashion Nomads: Where Fashion Education Meets Circular Economy

This groundbreaking project involved the students of the Master in Sustainable Fashion Design in a structured research and development path, aimed at demonstrating how high-level design today can only be achieved through responsible, circular, and transparent production methods.

At the core of the project is the Manteco System™, an ecosystem of low-impact solutions built on mechanical recycling, complete traceability, and certified emission reductions. The students worked with regenerated MWool® fabrics, exploring technical excellence — from durability to versatility of use — to create prototypes that respond to contemporary challenges, such as climate change and waste reduction.

The project also addresses a key issue in the fashion industry: every year, an estimated 15-25% of the 400 billion square meters of fabric produced is wasted in the cutting phase. To combat this, the Fashion Nomads collection integrates Zero Waste Design methodologies, eliminating textile waste entirely, while incorporating modular design solutions to create garments that are functional, versatile, and adaptable to ever-changing lifestyles.
