No Indian Muslims will be able to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj this year (2020), honouring the decision of the the latter to ban international pilgrims from performing the annual rituals amid the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday (June 23, 2020) took to Twitter to announce that Muslims from India will not be going on Haj.
"Honouring the decision of the Saudi Arabia Government in view of serious challenges of corona pandemic and keeping in mind the health and well-being of the people, it has been decided that Muslims from India will not go to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj," he tweeted.
A day after Saudi Arabia announced that “very limited number” of people will be allowed to perform Haj this year due to the coronavirus, the government on Tuesday decided to refund the application money of pilgrims without any deduction.
“We have decided that Haj pilgrims from India will not be sent to Saudi Arabia for Haj 2020. Application money of more than 2.3 lakh pilgrims will be returned without cancellation deductions through direct transfer,” said Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

केंद्रीय मंत्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी (Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi) ने कहा है- हमने निर्णय किया है कि हज 2020 के लिए भारत के हज यात्री इस बार सऊदी अरब नहीं जाएंगे. इसके लिए करीब 2 लाख तीस हजार लोगों द्वारा जमा कराए गए आवेदन शुल्क को सरकार वापस करेगी. इसमें कोई कैंसिलेशन चार्ज नहीं लिया जाएगा.
