Five months after being diagnosed with heart and kidney failure, Tim White faced stiff odds. Major surgery gave him a second chance, but recovery would be challenging since Tim couldn’t breathe, speak, eat or move on his own. The Select Specialty Hospital – Downriver care team knew they could help Tim recover by relying on their vast experience and completing additional LVAD training to ensure even more specialized care for Tim. Over the next two months, the 52-year-old handyman worked with his team to reclaim his independence. By the time he discharged, Tim was able to breathe freely, eat meals and walk over 100 feet on his own.
