Located in Newmarket is Thornton Bales Conservation Area that's lovingly known as "99 Steps." It's one of the best hikes in York Region and is just about to peak in fall colours!
Parking at the top of 99 Steps is limited, however, this trail connects to Joker's Hill (with a much larger free parking area just off Bathurst St. The Joker's Hill hiking loop is only 3.4kms and is absolutely beautiful.

FUN FACT: The change in vertical elevation from the top of the 99 steps to the bottom is a larger change in elevation than the drop over Niagara Falls!
