Waste to Wonder Park near Sarai Kale Khan, New Delhi features the replicas of iconic seven wonders of the world, created from industrial and other scrap waste.
The monuments at the park include – the Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid of Giza, Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, Christ the Redeemer of Brazil, Rome’s Colosseum and the Statue of Liberty.
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has built the replicas of the Seven Wonders with industrial scrap including drums, pipes, old iron benches, and automobile parts.
110 tonnes of waste was procured from 24 municipal corporation yards in order to make the final interpretation of the monuments.
The park is a Clean India Project which is a part of SDMC’s waste to art initiative. It is a completely eco-friendly park which will be lit only by using renewable sources of energy such as solar power and wind energy.
The replicas of these seven wonders made out of waste have been given a bright and finished look with old sodium lights installed within them, to highlight their features. This has created a breathtaking sight during the evening and night hours, marking it as a captivating tourist spot of Delhi.
A visit to Waste to Wonder Park is a must to understand that something created from scrap materials can look so surreal.
