The FISH RIVER CANYON - 5 Days in Namibia

Описание: 5 Day Fish River Canyon multi-day hiking adventure! Namibia was a treat!

DAY 1
We started our adventure from the comfort of Ai Ais Hot springs. We caught the 7am transfer to the start of the trail near Hobas and watched the sunrise in the van 🌅 We even spotted some mountain zebra and Gemsbok along the way!

The hike begins with a steep 2km descent down into the canyon. Some tricky sections with loose rock, but with the chains our team cruised through without anyone getting hurt! Aparrently, this is where most injuries happen... 🙃

Once you get to the bottom, there's a beautiful (although slightly stagnant) pool to welcome you! Only 2 of us brave soulds jumped in to cool off while the others stopped for a leg stretch and snack. 🏊‍♂️

4km further along the trail, we found Eric's Spring! What a savior. Tasty, clean and safe drinking water and obviously we chose to spend the night close by. ⛺️

The first night was magical, the crew in high spirits, clear skies full of stars and a well fueled fire to keep us warm! 🔥 🌟

This is where we also found out that one of our crew @missjesspote had packed an excessive amount of milk and wet wipes 😂 But not enough of the essentials, although the crew didn't complain about using all her wet wipes 😂

DAY 2
We had a nice slow morning to start the day, getting up a little late and watching the sunrise from camp 🏕

The day was filled with beautiful scenes of the canyon, some treacherous terrain and good vibes all round. Everyone was still feeling fresh and fit but by around 12:00 the sun was beating down on us 🌞 We stopped in the shade of the canyon for some lunch after the final push to camp at Palm Springs!

What a magical spot! Seeing a huge pool of water when it is absolutely cooking was pure bliss! 🏊‍♂️ We couldn't help but run and jump in!

The pool is actually there because of a hot spring coming out between a few misplaced palm trees. A little oasis in the desert!

Day 3
This day was a day filled with amazing views! We woke up to wild horses in our campsite 🐎 We were told these were introduced into the area during the war and were subsequently let loose and have become wild.

We ended our day at Sandy Slopes where we spent the night next to some filthy water 😷 Not the greatest to drink and required a good amount of game to make it tasteful 😂

DAY 4
This day was a beast! A grueling 26km in blistering heat with very little shade took a huge toll! 🌞

We started just before sunrise to maximize the morning coolness 💧 As we set out, the pace of the group was strong. I was also feeling inspired this day and captured a lot more than the previous days (which is why the video is longer 😂)

The last few km's, we arrived at what's known as the Pink Palace. We had down about 22km already. Absolutely over heating. Walking towards the house, thirsty for the water point, we noticed a guy with a chefs hat 👩‍🍳 We looked at each other and were super confused. A few moments later, we realize they have COLD BEER AND BURGERS!! 🍺 This was pure bliss and instantly boosted everyone's spirits!

Amazingly, they didn't over charge, because I think we would probably pay triple for that! 😂 The last 3 km were then smooth sailing with spirits at an all time high.

We finally arrived, 26km later and setup in the dark for our final night 🌙
