Many thanks to Richard at Adrem78 for lending me his original 78 of this rare delta blues recording, and allowing me to transfer, restore and upload it here.
Like so many other independent recording companies of the time, Paramount was virtually in its death throws in 1930, after the recording industry boom experienced during much of the 1920s came to an end due to the combined forces of the depression and the growth of network radio. Records were relatively expensive and sales of blues 78s dropped dramatically in the USA during this time. This fine delta blues record - one of very few copies still in existence - is a rare survivor!
Delta blues players like Son House were an important influence on subsequent generations of singers and guitarists, right up to the rock guitarists who achieved the sort of fame that the likes of Son House could not even dare to dream about!
