I pre-ordered Canon's RF 45mm f/1.2 STM lens, because it seemed like a no-brainer to me: a modern, budget-friendly version of a near-50mm f/1.2 lens could be very useful to have, especially since I enjoy using my fully-manual 50mm f/0.95 lens. But reviews on the 45mm have been very mixed, because despite its pros (small and light, f/1.2, low price), it definitely has some big cons when it comes to image quality. But as always, I'm most interested in how a lens performs in the field, and whether I like the results it gives me. So while in Orlando recently, I gave the 45mm a good workout at Lake Eola and Universal Epic Universe, shooting almost exclusively at f/1.2, to show what this particular $500 gets you. Come along!
