India’s military satellite: Bolstering operational capabilities of armed forces

Описание: State-of-art defence technologies not only take a country towards self-reliance in critical areas but it also equips our armed forces with the latest defence arsenals.

Acting in the same ethos, the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) led under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently approved the procurement of military equipments worth ₹8,357 crore, including a military satellite, to bolster the operational capabilities of Indian armed forces.

It is noteworthy that the acceptance of necessity (AoN) for military aresenal includes the GSAT-7B satellite for the Indian army, air defence fire control radars, light vehicles and image intensifiers.

The GSAT-7 series is a state-of-art advanced satellites built by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), which is designed to provide communication capabilities to users over vast expanses including oceans.

These satellites will not just be for communication but it will also provide round-the-clock surveillance of India’s borders.
