Our second session of Data Protection & AI in Practice: Global Perspectives for 2026 delivered a timely and highly practical discussion on how organizations can prepare for — and effectively manage — cyber incidents when they occur.
We would like to sincerely thank our speakers Charlotte Riley (CSS Assure, UK), Padraig Walsh (Tanner De Witt, Hong Kong), and India Bednall (FTI Consulting, Australia) for sharing their expertise, as well as everyone who joined and actively engaged in the discussion.
The session explored the complex interplay between legal obligations, security response, and strategic communications during a cyber crisis, highlighting why preparation and coordination across teams are critical when organizations are under pressure.
Key takeaways included:
🔹 The importance of understanding legal reporting obligations and regulatory timelines across jurisdictions
🔹 How security teams can contain and investigate incidents while preserving evidence
🔹 Why communication strategies play a central role in maintaining trust with regulators, customers, and the public
🔹 The risks of siloed responses — and the need to align legal, technical, and communications teams
🔹 Practical steps to build a breach response plan that works under real-world pressure
This session reinforced a key message: effective cyber incident management depends on advance planning and strong coordination across legal, technical, and communications functions.
