Описание: In this video, Cool World, released in 1992 for the Atari ST by Ocean Software.
Based on 1992 movie by Rough Draft Studios, Cool World is a platform-action game, mixing side-scrolling stages with short exploration sections. Visually, the game delivers a colorful cartoon look with a passable scrolling. Sprites are expressive enough, but animations can feel stiff and backgrounds are somewhat repetitive. Gameplay is also repetitive and generally is a mixed bag. The idea of chasing doodles, retrieving objects and preventing chaos between the real world and the cartoon world is original, but the controls and hit detection ruins the experience making the game frustrating. Enemy patterns are erratic, and the level design often relies on trial-and-error rather than skill. The sound is minimal, with basic effects and short music loops that do little to enhance the atmosphere. Overall, Cool World is an ambitious concept held back by rough execution.
