Instructor Mike Anderson brings us another episode of Bush Hacks.
Today he will be teaching us how to make toothpaste out of the ash of a Leadwood Tree.
Remember that a Leadwood (Combretum imberbe) is a protected tree, the Leadwood is one of the largest trees in Africa, capable of attaining heights of 20m high. This tree was declared a protected species in South Africa due to the over-exploitation of this tree for many years, there is even a fine if you are caught cutting branches. However, as you can see in this video elephants don't always listen to the protected species rule, and have broken down some nice branches for us to use.
