Addressing the UN Security Council, India’s envoy Parvathaneni Harish urged Pakistan to introspect over the 27th Constitutional Amendment, which grants lifetime immunity to its Chief of Defence Forces. By contrasting India’s democratic accountability with Pakistan’s constitutional distortion, India exposed what it called a democracy in name but military rule in practice.
