The narcissist, or person with narcisissitic personality disorder, does not have their own identity and they need others to supply them. A narcissist mirrors you for many different reasons, from manipulation to love bombing, gaslighting, to refill their narcissistic supply, or just because they haven't learned how to appropriately act in social situations. When the narcissist copies you, they are trying to behave as you are because they don't know how to be any different. The mirroring might initially appear to be the narcissist enjoying your company, but soon you will learn this is not a behavior you want in someone else. Your identity becomes their identity.
