Описание: After struggling with infertility issues, Daniel and Tina McKeen decided to pursue open adoption. Open adoption is when the birth family selects the adoptive family and maintains contact throughout the child's life. The start of their adoption experience was captured by Barbara Walters in an episode of 20/20. Their resulting family increased by significantly more than one person, redefining for them what makes a family. Daniel will talk about the challenges and rewards of open adoption, as well as the complications involved when it is part of a nationally televised documentary. Daniel McKeen is a beloved computer science teacher at Solon High School, after receiving his BA in Mathematics at Hiram College and his MS in Management Science (with a concentration in Operations Research) at Case Western Reserve University. In 2010, he was distinguished as Ohio’s AP teacher of the year by the College Board. In 2004, he appeared on an episode of 20/20, entitled “Be My Baby,” documenting his “open adoption” process. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
