O Katharina (Richard Fall, L. Wolfe Gilbert) - Played By Nathan Glantz And His Orchestra

O, Katharina was composed for the Russian-Parisian musical revue "La Chauve Souris." ("The Bat") The show toured major cities in Europe and America between 1922 and 1934.
The piece as played here is a little hokey and fun! Listen out for the two trumpet chorus that sounds to me not unlike a Herb Alpert Tijuana brass sound! ( 01:20 ) The sound of seeming sleigh bells at 02:12 adds another strange dimension.
Nathan Glantz (1878-1937) was a Russian-born musician, saxophone / reeds player and bandleader. Following his migration to the United States Of America in 1905 and learning music, he played, performed and recorded with many well-known dance bands from around 1916. By the early 1920's he had formed his own band and continued to record prolifically for various labels under his own name and pseudonyms until the early 1930's. The recordings he led or participated in would number in the many hundreds. (Or more!)
Recorded and processed from an original vintage 78 record by myself.
