Cement Resurfacing Overlays – Stencil Tape Design Method

Cement resurfacing overlays are a great way to upgrade old driveways, patios, sidewalks, and porches with a fresh, decorative look. Here’s how we did it using a stencil tape technique:

Surface Preparation – We started by grinding and cleaning the existing concrete to remove dirt, coatings, and ensure proper adhesion.
Applying the Base Coat – A thin base coat of cement overlay was applied to create a strong foundation.
Laying Stencil Tape – Once the base coat set, we carefully applied stencil tape in the desired pattern to create a unique design.
Finishing the Cement by Hand – We applied a top coat of cement overlay by hand, ensuring a smooth, even finish over the stencil tape.
Pulling the Tape for the Design – Before the overlay fully cured, we carefully removed the stencil tape, revealing clean, crisp lines in the design.
Sealing the Surface – Finally, we applied a high-quality concrete sealer to protect the surface from wear, stains, and weather damage.
This concrete overlay method is perfect for adding decorative finishes to outdoor spaces, enhancing curb appeal, and increasing property value. Whether for residential or commercial projects, it's a cost-effective and durable solution for transforming old concrete.
