Thulani Maseko, a leading human rights lawyer and advocate for democratic reform in Eswatini, was tragically shot and killed in his home on January 22, 2023. Despite previous efforts to bring about change, the country remains an absolute monarchy, where King Mswati III holds absolute power. In this video, Good Governance Africa’s Stephen Buchanan-Clarke calls on Eswatini to allow for an independent and internationally supported investigation into the killing, as well as an all-inclusive national dialogue facilitated by the Southern African Development Community.
