essential ingredients:
. 0.5 cup of chickpeas
. 0.5 cups of navy beans
. 2 tomatoes
. 1-2 potatoes
. 1 onion
. 3 cloves of garlic
. 200g lamb meat with 100g extra fat
. spices such as turmeric, salt, black and red pepper
. 1-2 tbsp tomato paste
. and Sangak bread!
Dizi Sangi recipe:
first of all, you need to prepare the (special pots) that Iranian use for cooking Dizi, and if you don't happen to have it you can follow Abgoosht recipe on Yummy Boards and cook your Dizi in the regular pot! but if you have the essential pot let's begin..
. start the recipe 24 hours before cooking by soaking 0.5 cup of chickpeas and navy beans in water and let it rest for 24 hours, then drain it and start preparing your Dizi.
. peel and chop 1 onion, 2 tomatoes, 200g lamb meat, and 100g extra fat.
. add the chopped ingredients and the drained chickpeas and navy beans to the Dizi pot.
. add 1 tbsp salt, 1 tbsp turmeric, 1 tbsp black pepper, and 1 tsp red pepper powder.
. then add 3 cloves of garlic.
. add 1.5 cups of hot water.
. using your heat diffuser, cook your Dizi for 2.5 hours on very low heat.
. after that, chop and peel 1 potato, and add it to your stew.
. then add 1-2 tbsp tomato paste and keep on cooking for 6 hours.
. then serve your Dizi as we did and enjoy!
