Tolerance only works when it is reciprocal. If one side demands public affirmation, symbolic protection, and institutional support, while excusing or downplaying intolerance coming from other groups, the result is not coexistence but imbalance. Compassion becomes a one-way street.
This is especially visible when progressive spaces bend over backwards to avoid offending conservative religious communities, including Muslim communities, even though in many Muslim-majority societies pride flags would be banned outright, protests would be suppressed, and LGBT people would face legal or social punishment.
