Hello I'm Michelle Park here with the weather update. This past weekend's cold spell is lingering into this week with cold wave alerts in place. There's a good amount of snow coming down on Jeju Island and the southwestern provinces, making things difficult. Jeju Island is currently under a heavy snow advisory especially in the mountainous regions, where up to 40 centimeters is expected.

The cold wave will be in full swing tomorrow,... Seoul starting the morning at minus 14 degrees Celsius.
Daegu is at minus 10 and Busan also freezing at minus 9 degrees.

You can expect a colder afternoon as well,... with Seoul dropping down to minus 6 degrees.
Gwangju and Busan look better at minus 3 and zero degrees.

We'll have to stay strong against the cold until Wednesday with morning lows under minus 10 degrees. This cold spell is expected to gradually ease on Thursday, the day before the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

Speaking of which, Pyeongchang is under cold wave warnings and the temperatures in the days leading up to the Games are likely to be bone-chilling as well.
