IN UPCOMING CHAPTER 3:
For traditional techniques, I will go over (1) the different points in which a traditional building dissipates energy through friction dampening, (2) the two types of Shinbashira and their mechanisms of action, and (3) the balancing toy effect in pagodas. For modern techniques, I'll go over (1) tuned mass dampers, (2) viscous dampers, and (3) metallic yield dampers.
Sorry for the delay, but there was conflicting information regarding the Shinbashira and it's workings which required extensive research to reconcile (but it's done now and I just have to record and edit).
