Exhibition CUTE at Kunsthal museum, Rotterdam, the Netherlands | Museum tour with all the highlights

Описание: I was invited to the press preview of the exhibition CUTE at the Kunsthal museum in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I am a big fan of Nijntje (aka Miffy), Hello Kitty and all things cute, so I wouldn't want to miss it.

When I stepped inside, I felt I was invited to the house of a collector obsessed with all things cute. I first got a house tour to see the furniture, paintings, statues, and their closet. Afterwards, their collection of toys, plushies, and other collectibles was enthusiastically shown to me. In between, we play games in the game arcade room, watch a movie in the movie room, and we dance in the Hello Kitty disco or the Glimmer room. When it is time for a nap, we can sleep in the Hannah Diamond installation or on the cushiony items of the Supertoys Supertoys x Fatboy collab. The collector also tells me not to enter the secret chamber, where there are cute, but creepy creatures. But I don't listen. ^_^

As an ARMY, I was also surprised to see BT21 merchandise of the Korean boy band, BTS, in the exhibition and in the museum gift shop.

On the same day, the CUTE summer party with the dresscode, As cute as you can be, was held. So, I wore the cutest dress that I could find in my closet. At the party, there were drinks and bites: a raspberry drink, mochi filled with ice cream, and popcorn covered with strawberry flavor white chocolate paste. There were also a temporary tattoo stand with cute and glittery stickers that you can pick from, a DJ booth, mini bubble blowing sticks scattered everywhere, and a DIY phone strap/keychain/bracelet workshop. There were some parts of the exhibition CUTE that needed finishing touches, so I wanted to see it again, when it was completed. I also got to finally see De Grote Zomer Kunst Croquet (The Grand Summer Art Croquet) that is located in the auditorium in finished state and in use by the many visitors. I was impressed by how cuteness was able to attract such a diverse crowd. I saw people with extravagant and cute outfits, adults wearing beaded necklaces that they made themselves at the workshop and getting temporary tattoos, kids blowing bubbles, and old people having fun on the dancefloor on the k-pop beats of the DJ.

The CUTE summer party was only for one day, but every third Friday of the month, there is a Kunsthal Friday Night LIVE event. After hours, you can stay at the museum until 22:00 for bites and drinks, music and performances, and an evening full of art, which is different every time.

Things to know
You can only go inside the Kunsthal museum with a small bag. Larger bags need to be placed in a locker and you can borrow plastic coins, if you don't have any coins on you. With an entrance ticket (the wristband), you can visit the whole museum and not just the exhibit CUTE. The Kunsthal cafe and museum gift shop can be visited without a ticket. The toilets are clean and free of charge. You can find one next to the lockers, near the cafe and museum gift shop.
