Those vast open beaches and endless skies — and then you spot it. A piece of driftwood, sculpted by time, tide and Northumberland weather.

In this video, I take on a large panoramic painting inspired by Druridge Bay and talk through a decision many artists wrestle with:

Oils… or acrylics?

Both have their strengths. Oils give you time, atmosphere and subtle blending. Acrylics give you immediacy, punch and speed. So which did I choose for this one?

This piece is about texture, tonal balance and letting the space breathe — a big horizontal format that suits that Northumberland coastline perfectly.
