History and Models

The VRSC line was produced from 2002 to 2017. Key models included: 

VRSCA V-Rod (2002-2006): The original model, featuring an 1131cc engine, 180mm rear tire, and forward controls.

VRSCR Street Rod (2006-2007): A roadster-inspired version with mid-mounted controls, inverted forks, and a higher seat height, designed for better handling and lean angle.

VRSCD Night Rod (2006-2008): Featured blacked-out components and was built around the Revolution engine.

VRSCDX Night Rod Special (2007-2017): A popular "Dark Custom" variant with a 240mm rear tire and blacked-out styling.

VRSCF V-Rod Muscle (2009-2017): Distinguished by its straight-shot dual exhausts (one on each side), "air-rams" (cosmetic) on the airbox cover, and integrated turn signals in the mirrors.

Reviews consistently praise the V-Rod's powerful and smooth engine which provides thrilling, raw acceleration, unlike traditional Harleys. It has a unique, aggressive look that draws attention. 

However, the drag-bike inspired ergonomics (long wheelbase, low seat, and wide rear tire) mean it prioritizes straight-line stability over cornering agility, with limited lean angle before scraping the pegs. The ride can be firm due to the suspension setup. Maintenance can also be more involved than traditional air-cooled Harleys, with required valve services (every 15,000 miles) and coolant changes.
