What Happened to Frutiger Aero

With the rise of oversimplified logos, rebrands are coming in hot — and some company logos are good… while some are just awful. But what happened to Frutiger Aero? It was supposed to follow up the Skeuomorphism design language, but has seemingly been lost to time in favor of flat design. So why did we move to the flat logos, and why is there still so much Frutiger Aero nostalgia?
