A devastating fire broke out in Rautapada village under Gania block of Nayagarh district, reducing three thatched houses to ashes. The incident occurred when no one was at home, and is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Property worth lakhs, including gold ornaments, cash, paddy, rice, and important documents, was completely destroyed.

Locals noticed smoke billowing from the houses and alerted the Gania Fire Services. Firefighters rushed to the spot and managed to control the blaze, but failed to save any belongings from being gutted.
