On January 22, 2026 Frances Widdowson went early, before the protest, to provide commentary on the orange shirts and Orwellian slogans adorning the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre. She then walked to the "Dialogue Centre"'s location with a number of supporters to discuss the Kamloops "215" deception. When she refused to leave, Widdowson, not members of the violent crowd, was arrested. Widdowson's supporters were then chased to the Aquatic Centre, where they were put on buses to protect them from the deranged protesters. While she was being dragged away Widdowson stated: "UBC, this is what you have become, with your orange shirts and totalitarianism".
