Arvydas Sabonis, 7-3 center for the Soviet national basketball team, has an injured heel and will not be in the United States for 14-game tour, which began Tuesday night in Albany, N.Y.
Nov. 3, 1986 at the Forum. Athletes in Action conclude their three-game series with the Soviet National basketball team .The two previous games on the tour have been won by Athletes in Action, which is led by former Laker center Swen Nater and guard Lorenzo Romar.
Nater had 17 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday night’s 92-90 win in San Diego
Soviet National basketball team beat a team of Continental Basketball Association All-Stars 77-72 Tuesday night in the first game to be played between a Soviet team and professionals from the United States.
Soviets were led by Vladimir Tkachenko and Sharunas Marchulenis, who scored 18 points each
The CBA team was led by Kenny Natt of the Albany Patroons, who scored 16 points.

Sean Elliot and Anthony Cook scored 22 points each to lead Arizona. Vladas Khomichus led the Soviet team with 18.
Nov.06. 1986 The Soviet Union National Team walloped OU, 102-74, before 8,362 mostly silenced fans at Lloyd Noble Center. And the game really was not that close.
Through 10 of the first half's 20 minutes, the Soviets led by only 20-19, but they outscored OU 32-14 during the remainder of the first half, for a 52-33 halftime lead. And then they really got hurt.
Valdas Khomichus had 25 points, including five 3-point shots, to lead all scorers, while Oklahoma's Stacey King led the Sooners with 21 points
"What this amounted to," said OU coach Billy Tubbs, "is that we got a very good lesson in basketball. Maybe we should go over there (to Russia) and learn the game.
Soviet Coach Armand Kraulins said his team's performance was 'middle level,' adding his team's physical conditioning and size advantage over the smallish Sooners made the difference.
Nov.10. 1986 NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Valdas Khomichus scored 35 points Monday night to pace the Soviet National basketball team to a 112-91 victory over Vanderbilt in an exhibition game.
Vanderbilt led 58-57 at the half, mostly due to an inside game led by 7-foot junior center Will Purdue, who scored 13 points.
'We didn't do a good job of getting the basketball inside and didn't do a good job of reading defensive players,' Vanderbilt Coach C.M. Newton said. 'We had too many turnovers in the second half.
The Soviets, 5-4 on their U.S. tour, play Georgia Tech in Atlanta Tuesday night.

Indiana Coach Bob Knight, entering his 16th season with the Hoosiers, demanded a Soviet player be thrown out of the game with 12: 18 remaining after an intentional foul was called. Knight made his point to the Soviet coaching staff and an Amateur Basketball Association official seated at the end of the Soviet bench.
Nov.19.1986 Ussr-Kansas 78-84
Danny Manning scored 28 points and Mark Turgeon added 17 to lead Kansas to an 84-78 victory over the Soviet National Team.
The game, before a crowd of 15,800, marked the end of a 14-game United States tour by the Soviet team, which had an 8-6 record.
