STORYLINE:
Several hundred supporters of Iran's opposition gathered in Berlin on Tuesday to protest against the upcoming inauguration of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Demonstrators carried banners with messages against thee Iranian government and called for Ahmadinejad to step down.
"There is no peace in Tehran, there are protests every evening, there are clashes every evening, there are people on the streets every evening," said one protester, Petram Shahya.
Iranian opposition groups have called for street protests to coincide with Wednesday's inauguration ceremony and several pro-reform blogs and Web sites are appealing for demonstrators to gather in front of parliament, where Ahmadinejad is to be officially sworn in for a second term.
The postings on Tuesday also called for protests at markets in other cities around Iran, action which will likely be met with a heavy-handed crackdown.
Authorities have ruthlessly suppressed opposition protests, jailing hundreds of protesters and putting more than 100 on trial on charges of plotting to topple the regime.
At least 30 people were also killed in the unrest as hundreds of thousands of opposition supporters took to the streets to protest Ahmadinejad's victory, according to Iran's parliament.
Human rights groups believe the number is likely far greater.
The opposition maintains Ahmadinejad stole the June 12 vote from opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi through massive fraud.
