Tory Darren Millar has condemned authorities' failure to stop abuse carried out by certain ethnic minority groups, labelling it "cowardice". Millar warned public bodies were frightened of being labelled racist. He's not wrong.

Millar cited case of Emily Vaughn, a young woman who suffered appalling abuse at the hands of grooming gangs. He explained Emily was raped hundreds of times by individuals involved in the gangs. Authorities shamefully failed to protect her.

Millar calmly exposed serious cultural failings within out institutions. The weaponisation of racism has had very serious consequences, not limited to one scandal. But the atrocities grooming gangs were able to commit demonstrates clearly that this culture needs to change.
