Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Tuesday said it will pronounce its final judgment in the 2G spectrum allocation cases on December 21,

Former Telecom Minister A Raja (pictured above) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP Kanimozhi are among the key accused in the scam.

Special Judge OP Saini, who is dealing with the cases related to the 2G spectrum scam, adjourned Tuesday’s hearing after setting the date for the judgment.

In November, the court deferred the verdict to December 5, as it was not ready with the verdict. Saini had then said that the voluminous documents filed in the case were still being perused, as a result of which the ruling was not ready. The final arguments in the case were concluded on April 26.

Since April 2011, Saini has been hearing two separate cases related to the 2G spectrum scam – one the CBI investigated and the other the Enforcement Directorate looked into.

The CBI holds that A Raja, the telecom minister during the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance’s rule, caused huge losses to the state exchequer by undercharging telecom firms for frequency licences. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India had estimated the total loss to be Rs 1.76 trillion.

Rajya Sabha member and DMK leader Kanimozhi, former Telecom Secretary Sidharth Behura and Raja’s private secretary RK Chandolia are also accused in the case. All accused are out on bail.
