After many months of almost daily testing, the new ATS monorail trains at Chicago O'Hare International Airport have at long last reopened to the public.
With little fanfare, the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) reopened the trains on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 -- more than two years overdue. The trains stop at each of O'Hare's four terminals and bring passengers to and from the new MMF (Multimodal Facility) located at 10255 W. Zemke Blvd., which houses all of O'Hare's rental car companies as well as Parking Lot F. That facility opened in October 2018.
The ATS stations are located in the landside (pre-security) areas of all four terminals. For the time being, the trains will be operational seven days a week between the hours of 10:30AM-8:30PM. Free shuttle buses will continue to operate 24 hours a day in addition to/in lieu of the ATS trains.
As you can gather from the video, the entire trip (which spans Terminal 1 to the MMF) takes approximately 10 minutes.
