How I installed a pond net over a 20' by 15' Koi pond to prevent birds and other animals of prey, as well as leaves and other debris from entering the pond. One person can do this alone. It took one afternoon after I had gathered the parts. You can modify the parts you need based on the size of your pond. The end result is good looking and most importantly, has kept raccoons, heron, possums, and other prey-seeking animals out of the pond.
Parts I used:
20' by 30' pond net (bought online for about $60
6 pieces of 2' long rebar as anchors (from big box home store)
6' of 1-inch PVC pipe, cut into six 12" sections
50 foot, UV resistant rope
3 fiberglass tent poles, 18' long (bought online for $16 each)
Because the poles in my case are about three foot longer than distance across the pond, it provides for the height I desired. The edges of the net are stretched down and secured with rocks that I had lining the edge of the pond. If you don't have rocks, you can anchor the net with the plastic stakes that are typically included with the net when you buy it.
