Nikolai is a Norway U21 player, with three Norway U20 matches.

Molde FK / Aker Academy:
Nikolai is educated in the #molde #Akerakademiet, and one of the clubs most most winning U19 Academy players.
2021: Norwegian U19 Champions, qualifying Molde to the Nordic Championship, Marbella. Molde U19 became the first Norwegian team to win and become Nordic Champions.
2022: Molde won "the Double", both the Norwegian Cup and Series, qualifying them to the Nordic Championship in Marbella, finishing with a strong second place.
Molde U19 also performed well in the Europa youth League.
2023: Niko was named the new U19/Molde2 Captain, and got 5 well played pre season matches for the skillful #molde A/first team.
In february/march 2023, Molde FK told Niko in a friendly way, that he was not in the head coach Erling Moe's future plans, and rejected his request to train once a week with the first team. Nikolai respected the decision.

Ranheim/Trondheim:
At 19 Nikolai signed for quality club Ranheim (Trondheim), mid season in august 2023. Pairing with legend Eggen Rismark in Central defence. Ranheim started a series of 5 unbeaten matches. Nikolai learned a lot, and gradually became one of the best young defenders in the Obos league. Playing every match for Ranheim, under coach and legend Kåre Ingebrigtsen.
Nikolai followed up with a strong 2025 season for Ranheim, becoming one of the better defenders in the Obos league.
Nikolai has a lot to thank Ranheim for.

Sarpsborg 08:
At 20y. Niko signed a record transfer from Ranheim to Sarpsborg 08, August 2024.
The club Sarpsborg08 with strong belief in Nikolai, and a reputation of developing young quality players and giving playingtime.
He played a fantastic 90min. training match vs Strømsgodset early on, securing a solid win and one of few clean sheets at home, for Sarpsborg08 that season.

2025 Pre-season:
Pre season 2025 started well. Niko played the most minutes of the #sarpsborg players, He received the great honor of being selected for Norway U21 representation.

Nikolai faught for and won the starting position together along with Tebo, after a strong pre-season and a sensational match against the Swedish Champions #Mjällby.
Things looked Good. But Koch regained the starting position and was made team captain, during Nikolai`s travel with Norways strong U21 national team. Competition were tough.

Niko performed well in the 3-4 matches he got in 2025, turning the Fredrikstad derbymatch around, as well as securing a cup win at Lerkendal vs. #rosenborg. Finally he got his starting debut vs. Brann, contributing as one of Sarpsborgs best players. Niko was proud of the debut for his club Sarpsborg08, and the ability to perform at a high level after over three long months on the bench.
Still Nikolai had to play matches on a more regular basis, so a loan was highly required.

Aalesund FK fall 2025:
Late August 2025 quality club #Aalesund FK loaned Nikolai from #Sarpsborg08. Playing time in focus, along with helping his farhers boyhood club Aafk back to the highest level in Norway. Where they soon will be.
Status after the final 11 matches, Nikolai played every minute, and together with his teammates, secured a sensational 8 clean sheets, several Man of the match performances, and conceeded only 3 goals in all 11 matches. The clean sheet and Man of the match performance, in the Derby Aafk vs. Molde FK, really showed his high class!

Now 4 Aafk qualification matches remains.
