Traditional Chinese wedding - Ying & Russell

Описание: Our traditional Chinese wedding which took plance in Chongqing, China on September 25, 2014.

A traditional wedding actually involves several events and lasts all day. The first "event" is the groom presenting himself at the home of the bride's family, accompanied by a dancing matchmaker, musicians and other attendees. The video is actually a little out of order, so the "at the bride's home" clips are shown second. The first set of shots are of the official presentation and parading through the beautiful public gardens. At this point we had several hundred well-wishers following along clapping, yelling and taking photos.

The final shots are of the main wedding ceremony, which involved a costume change then participating in a number of little ceremonies--each of which had its own significance in Chinese history. You can see little glimpses of most of these traditions in the video. The wedding "lunch" actually lasted all the way till evening... when another meal was served! In-between the two meals, and on into the night, was a lof of mah-jongg playing, family visiting, drinking and toasting.

It was a very impressive and beautiful day of memories. Weddings are very important in the Chinese culture, so many friends and relatives had traveled long distances to attend. One aunt and uncle--in their 80s--had traveled 18 hours on a train to be there to support their neice. They were present at every ceremony during what proved to be a very long day, and refused to go to a hotel to rest. Very touching.
