Farhad goes abroad for higher studies, leaving Bakhtawar behind with their university friend Rashid (Kashif Mehmood), a junior lawyer who silently sacrifices his own love for her and supports her selflessly.

Bakhtawar’s life takes a tragic turn after her father’s death, when her mother (Rubina Ashraf) marries Qayyum (Mehmood Aslam), a gambler and alcoholic. Qayyum falls deeply into debt owed to Sheru (Saud), the ruthless manager of a gambling den. Unable to repay, Qayyum is threatened with the abduction of his son Shehzad (Hassan Niazi). Seeing Bakhtawar’s beauty, Sheru offers a cruel bargain—he will forgive the debt if Bakhtawar is married to him. Qayyum heartlessly agrees, considering her only a stepdaughter.

On the wedding day, Farhad returns unexpectedly, assaults Sheru, and takes Bakhtawar home. However, Malik Jalal humiliates and rejects her due to her background. Broken, Bakhtawar returns home to find Qayyum violently beating her mother. In a moment of desperation, Bakhtawar strikes Qayyum, accidentally killing him. She is arrested and sent to jail.

In prison, Bakhtawar meets Madam Shehnaz (Samina Peerzada), who later offers her work after her release. Rashid fights her case and secures her freedom. Unknown to Bakhtawar, Shehnaz works for Malik Jalal, who secretly runs an underworld empire involving prostitution and illegal favors for bureaucrats. Bakhtawar joins Shehnaz’s salon, unaware she is being sent to clients for exploitation—and narrowly escapes being raped, leaving her deeply traumatized.

Seeking stability, Bakhtawar marries Rashid, but fate turns cruel again when they encounter her attacker at a restaurant, causing Rashid to abandon her emotionally. Pregnant, Bakhtawar gives birth to a daughter, Minhal, but is served divorce papers while still hospitalized. The shock leads to her mother’s fatal heart attack.

Left alone, Bakhtawar returns to Shehnaz, managing her salon to support Shehzad’s education. Years later, Shehzad becomes successful and unknowingly falls in love with Romana (Madiha Iftikhar), Farhad’s sister. The truth emerges when he shows her photograph to Bakhtawar.

Farhad reenters Bakhtawar’s life at a party and grows fond of Minhal. Under pressure from Shehnaz and for her daughter’s future, Bakhtawar reluctantly marries Farhad, though she refuses any physical relationship. Just as she begins to accept her love for him, Farhad is murdered by Sheru.

Believing Malik Jalal ordered the killing, Bakhtawar confronts him, but Sheru arrives and confesses to murdering Farhad—and then kills Malik Jalal himself. Bakhtawar shoots Sheru dead. The tragedy devastates Farhad’s mother Rabia (Saira Wasti), who loses her sanity and isolates herself.

Bakhtawar surrenders to the police and is imprisoned once again. Rashid returns, fights her case, and wins her freedom. In the end, Bakhtawar reveals the truth to Rashid—that Minhal is his daughter, bringing the story full circle.
