HVDC - High Voltage Direct Current
Electric power transmission system uses direct current for the bulk transmission of electrical power, in contrast with the more common alternating current systems. High-voltage direct current (HVDC) lines are used as links in AC transmission systems for several reasons such as stability, economy, and corona loss. It is possible to control the current on the HVDC side by the use of firing circuits of the thyristors used in both rectifiers and inverters.

SVC (Static Var Compensator)
A static VAR compensator is a set of electrical devices for providing fast-acting reactive power on high-voltage electricity transmission networks. SVCs are part of the Flexible AC transmission system device family, regulating voltage, power factor, harmonics, and stabilizing the system
