Uwais Syed is a pharmacist, research scientist, and consultant with decades of experience in pharmaceutical research and development. As CEO and Principal Scientist of Syenz Laboratory, he brings deep scientific rigor and cross-disciplinary expertise to drug development, formulation science, and quality systems. He is also the founder of the Herbiomed product line, where he applies evidence-based research to the development of innovative therapeutic solutions.

Uwais’s technical expertise spans pharmacovigilance, toxicology, immunology, therapeutics, peptide and hydrophilic drug delivery, cell culture, drug–cell interaction, bioassays, and advanced lipid-based systems such as liposomes and nano-cochleates. His work includes PK modeling and simulation, experimental design and statistical clinical protocol development, CGMP quality unit establishment, quality assurance, audits, and full-scale product, process, method, and equipment validation. He has led and supported pharmaceutical programs across research, manufacturing, and regulatory readiness.

He earned his Ph.D. from Long Island University, where his dissertation focused on the delivery of hydrophilic small molecules and peptides using cochleate-based nano-lipid systems compatible with cellular absorption. His doctoral work also included an NIH research proposal on a modified acid-stable Omeprazole molecule for pre-formulation characterization and ADME testing. Earlier, he completed a Master of Science at Ohio University, where his thesis integrated artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling to support pharmaceutical R&D decision-making, and a Bachelor of Engineering from NED Engineering University with extensive training in process and systems engineering.

Uwais is a published researcher and inventor, with his work on cochleate drug delivery cited extensively in international scientific literature. He holds multiple awarded pharmaceutical patents with the USPTO and corresponding patents in Canada, the UK, and Australia. He is affiliated with leading professional organizations, including the American Pharmacists Association, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and ASQ, where he is CGMP-acquainted for FDA audits.
